“Love is the perfect balance between gratitude and generosity.”
~Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I love you my friends, and was reminded of the power of simply being around other loving souls when I saw Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. during his book tour and Seattle visit on Friday, with the company of a dear friend.
During this holiday season when preparations for traditions, obligations, celebrations, gifts, foods, challenges, and joy are plentiful…for many of us this time is multi-faceted and can bring up a number of emotions, from love to dread, and anywhere between and beyond.
So, as we gear up for another round of “holiday cheer” may I suggest a way to make it even easier this year?
Rather than spinning in our minds about all of the things we “have to do,” what if we went straight to what we really want instead?
Love.
And not that solo-silo-I-can-do-it-myself experience of love that the personal and spiritual growth worlds have touted as ultimate, in certain forms over the years…that love comes from within, and loving yourself is key to joy, happiness, and freedom…
Because yes, while that is absolutely true, we are also human beings having an experience in this tangible world, and the beauty that unfolds when we share the simplicity of love with another is profound.
Whether this is with a partner, family member, neighbor, friend, stranger, ancestor, or someone famous or infamous from afar, there is an infinite expansion of love available within each relationship, and across relationships in the world.
How?
That, in many ways, is the lifelong journey we are all on, to discover this for ourselves with words and ways and experiences that act like keys to unlock and open certain doors.
One such key, is this combination of words…a perspective to try on and experience internally, like a scrub brush clearing out old thoughts that don’t quite fit anymore, allowing the truth to shine through.
“Love is the perfect balance between gratitude and generosity.” – Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.
What this means to me is possibly quite different from what it means to you, and how you arrive at the uncovering is up to you.
Some fun possibilities to play with, if you are so inspired…
*What does love mean to me?
*What am I grateful for within myself?
*What am I grateful for within my partner/friend/family member/other?
*Where am I being generous with myself?
*Where is my partner/friend/family member/other being generous with me?
*How do I want to show up this season, or at this next event?
I will be using this tool myself before I head into the many holiday festivities afoot, to continue creating new pathways and clearings, and to relish in the simplicity of love now, and in the season ahead.
Thank you so much for being here my friends, as part of my community and world. I am so grateful for you, and love you, perhaps more than you know.
With deepest love and gratitude,
Lena
